What this checker covers, and what it doesn't

This tool reads federal recall records through our shared data service (FDA recall notices for animal and veterinary products, the FDA recall feed, and openFDA enforcement records limited to animal products) and adds curated landmark recalls the site maintains. That is real, official data, but it has real limits:

  • Records reach back to January 2017. An older recall may not appear here even though it happened.
  • No result does not mean "safe." Zero records only means nothing matched here for your search term. It is not a clean bill of health.
  • Class shown where FDA provides it. The feed itself has no Class I/II/III rating, so we add it only when a record confidently matches FDA's enforcement dataset or a hand-verified landmark recall. If there is no confident class, we show the recall without one rather than guess.
  • We report, we do not rate. Each card is the FDA's own announcement: the recalling company, the product as described, the FDA-stated reason, and the date. "View the record" opens the official FDA announcement. We do not add, rank, or editorialize the records, and searching stores no personal information.
