Privacy
The short version: no account, no email, and no tracking cookies. Three of our tools send what you type to a server to do their job, and this page explains exactly which ones and what happens, described as it actually works today.
What this site is
GoCheckMyPet is a mostly static website. Reading articles, browsing product picks, and comparing insurers all happen in your browser, with no account to create and no form that emails us your information. Three tools are different because they send what you enter to a server: the Pet Health Check, the Recall Checker and the Food Check. Each is described below, with where your input goes.
The Pet Health Check
When you request a Pet Health Check, the answers you enter (such as your pet's age, breed, and the concerns you describe) are sent through our server to Anthropic, whose AI model writes your summary. We do not require your name or email to use the tool, and you should not type your own personal details into the free-text box. We do not sell these answers, and there is no account that stores them for you to log back into.
The Recall Checker
When you search the Recall Checker, the brand or product term you enter is sent to the shared GoCheckMy data service, which queries public federal recall databases (the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission) and returns the matching records. Your browser talks to that data service rather than to the government sites directly. The tool also loads a small curated list of landmark recalls that the site maintains. We do not require any personal information to search, and the tool stores no personal information about you.
The Food Check
When you check a food brand, the brand name you type is sent to the shared GoCheckMy data service, which looks it up in public U.S. Food and Drug Administration records (recall notices, enforcement records and voluntary adverse event reports) and returns what matches. Your browser talks to that data service rather than to the FDA directly. Nothing but the brand name is sent, no personal information is needed, and the tool stores nothing about you.
The recall tracker, its feed and its embed
The latest recalls page, its RSS feed (/recalls/feed.xml) and its embed script (/recalls/embed.js) are static files rebuilt from public FDA records. Reading the feed, or visiting a site that shows the embed, asks our server for that file like any page request; the embed loads nothing else, sets no cookies and sends us nothing about the page it sits on.
What stays in your browser
A few small things are kept in your browser's session storage, for the open tab only, and are gone when you close it: the words you type on the home page, carried over to the health check; whether you paused the home page video; whether you closed the checkup bar on the compare page; and which GoCheckMy site you arrived from, which is added to an affiliate link only if you click one, so the partner can see which of our sites sent you. None of these is sent to us.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless tool, to understand aggregate traffic: page views, referring sites, general country-level location, and device or browser type. It is our only analytics tool. It does not set cookies and does not track you across other websites.
Hosting and logs
The site is served by Netlify, with Cloudflare in front of it. As the hosting and network providers, they process standard technical request data, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, in their server logs to deliver and secure the site under their own privacy policies. The serverless function behind the Pet Health Check runs on this same hosting; the Recall Checker now reads from the shared GoCheckMy data service instead.

If you contact us
If you email us or choose to subscribe to updates, we use your information only for the purpose you contacted us about, and we will never sell or share your personal information.
Children
This site is intended for adults caring for their pets. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Do we sell your data?
No. Beyond the aggregate, cookieless analytics described above, and the technical logs kept by our hosting providers, there is no personal information collected here to sell or share.
